Espresso – the super-concentrated, sweet yet bitter brew originating in Italy at start of 20th Century. The word literally translates to 'express' for its lightning fast service that's made just for you when you order it! This iconic coffee is typically served up in a demitasse cup but can also be combined with other ingredients and turned into frothy wonders such as cappuccinos or added shots like a caffe corretto - all part of your foreign coffee adventure if espresso has become representative of local culture!
Ingredients
1/2 cup Espresso Italia coffee
Directions:
- Grind the coffee until it’s very fine ground.
- Pack and tamp the coffee grounds
- Place the portafilter in the espresso machine and press the button to pull the shot.
- If you find that the shot is watery, use slightly more coffee grounds or use a finer grind on the coffee. If the shot takes longer than 30 seconds, reduce the amount of coffee grounds or use a coarser grind on the coffee.
- Serve immediately in espresso cups

Espresso Italia: This southern Italian classic is a blend of 100% Arabica beans and roasted by our on-site roaster to "full city roast." Full city is a medium roast that is reached after just a few minutes when the beans are caught between the first and second crack. The beans will exhibit a balance between aroma, acid, and complexity, producing a smooth well-rounded espresso.
